Current NCLD workshops for ‘08
Each workshop approximately 1 hr long. These are for both staff and for the public.
These are hands-on sessions using up to 10
notebook computers. Other workshops
topics available at your request. Anything that is
available on POWER Library or a district
online resource can be a workshop.
1) Using Heritage Quest: Discover Your Past
Description:
Learn how easy it is to discover your family
history using the premier online research
tool available today - Heritage Quest Online
. You will learn how to use Heritage Quest
Online to find your ancestors, trace their
paths across America, and learn what life
was like in the areas where they settled.
Topics include:
• Tour —what is available; Federal Census,
Freedman’s Bank., Family & Local histories,
church records, tax lists, etc. PERSI
(Periodical Source Index), & Revolutionary
War records
• Using the “Search Guide” provided free to
each participant. Tips and hints for
searching.
• Online practice with sample searches in
all of the tools- including the built in
“Notebook”.
• Genealogy Research—Getting Started
2) Treasures Online at Your Public Library
Take a tour of the many treasures waiting to
be discovered online at the public library
