POWER Library Faces Outages
Read More and Take Action: PDF Version | Word doc version (right click to save)Pennsylvanians POWERed up with nearly 50 million POWER Library searches in 2008 (growth of one-third in one year!) POWER Library, a collection of computer-accessed resources including tens of thousands of full text articles, newspapers, photographs, maps, and more, saves at least $40,000 a year for every one of Pennsylvania’s 3000-plus school and public libraries.
With cuts proposed in next year’s state budget, access to these resources will be slashed (H.B. 1416) or eliminated (S.B. 850.)
Students, teachers, parents and school and public librarians are asked to speak up in support of these valuable resources. Please contact your elected state officials and ask that library funds in next year’s budget be level-funded in next year’s budget so that POWER Library can remain a vital tool for teaching and learning while continuing to save money for schools and libraries.
